What is DTV and why is this change happening? DTV is a new type of broadcasting technology that changes the way people watch TV, with dramatically better picture and sound quality than the older analog technology. DTV also serves an important public function - freeing up valuable airwaves space for first responders like police and fire departments. The DTV transition takes place on February 17, 2009, as required by the Federal Communications Commission.
